Some shops were burnt and property looted during an outbreak of violence in the Idi-Oro area of Mushin, Lagos, in the early hours of Monday.
Armed with machetes and axes, the suspects were said to have inflicted injuries on some residents.
Witnesses said trouble started after some youth from Akala, still in Mushin, invaded Alamutu street in Idi Oro.
The attackers were said to have broken into shops which they allegedly set ablaze after looting them.

Olarinde Famous-Cole, spokesman of the state police command, said officers were deployed in the area and that the situation had been brought under control.
“There was a report of an incident where hoodlums were disturbing the peace,” Famous-Cole told TheCable.

“The command is observing and maintaining the peace within the axis of the state while the area remain calm.”
The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) shared reports of the incidents and some pictures via its Twitter handle.
The squad said it was able to curtail the crisis and restore peace to the area, adding that it arrested eight persons confirmed to be members of the gang.

No fatalities was reported as of the time this report was filed.
