There was a fire outbreak on Saturday which affected dozens of shops at the popular Gamboru market in Maiduguri, the Borno capital.
NAN reported that the fire outbreak began around 2pm, with officers of the fire service deployed to the scene of the incident.
Speaking on the incident, Abdu Umar, the Borno commissioner of police, said security operatives were also on the ground.
Umar said about five firefighting trucks were deployed to the scene to contain the situation.

Several traders were also seen struggling to get out some of their property from the rubble, while others watched helplessly as the fire continued to ravage more structures.
The development comes days after a previous fire incident at a market in Borno.
During the previous fire outbreak, which occurred at the Monday market in Maiduguri on February 26, several shops were also destroyed.
