Bashir Lado, special adviser to the president on senate matters, says the prompt signing of the minimum wage bill into law by President Bola Tinubu shows that he is people-centric.
On Monday, Tinubu signed the N70,000 new minimum wage bill into law during the federal executive council (FEC) meeting.
In a statement, Lado, a former senator, said Tinubu has kept his promise to the Nigerian workers with the signing of the bill into law.
He commended the president for the provision that allows for a review of the minimum wage every three years.

“The signing of the minimum wage bill into law by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is both a promise kept and a demonstration of his people-centric governance model,” the statement reads.
“Tinubu promised to pay a living wage to Nigerian workers during his electioneering campaigns and he has kept that promise.
“He did not stop there; he ensured that there is a provision in the minimum wage Act which now makes it mandatory to review the national minimum wage every three years, as opposed to five years in the amended Act.

“This shows that workers’ take-home pay will continue to take them home under the present administration. The President deserves the commendation of all for staying true to his promise.”
The presidential aide praised Nigerian workers for their resilience and contribution to nation-building, adding that their efforts are essential to the betterment of the country.
