Jannik Sinner staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Daniil Medvedev and secure his first Australian Open title on Sunday.
The 22-year-old, pushed to the limit by Medvedev and forced to raise his game, rallied from two sets down to seal his first-ever Grand Slam.
The hard-fought five-set thriller on hard court ended 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.
Sinner dug deep to hand his Russian counterpart a third defeat as an Australian Open finalist — having lost to Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

By virtue of the victory, the Italian became the youngest player to win the Australian Open since Djokovic triumphed in 2008.
He is also the second Italian after Adriano Panatta (1976 Roland Garros) to win the Grand Slam title.
