Many residents were reported injured on Monday when the enforcers of the sit-at-home order and operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) clashed in Awka north LGA of Anambra state.
In May 2022, the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) said it would enforce a sit-at-home order across south-east.
The group said it would use the sit-at-home to show solidarity for its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ikenga Tochukwu, the police spokesperson in Anambra, said the sit-at-home enforcers disrupted trading in the Achalla market last week Monday.

“The hoodlums had disrupted trading in Achalla market the previous Monday ordering traders to sit at home,” the statement reads.
“This drew the attention of the security apparatus in the state leading to the Police Command engaging the hoodlums and giving them a full dose of the medicine in the early hours of Monday 19th February, 2024.
“Although most of the fleeing hoodlums sustained various degrees of injuries, the Joint Task Force operatives were able to recover some items from them including vehicles and guns.

“The ammunition includes over 300 rounds of Machine Gun Ammunition and 34 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition for AK-47 rifle. Others are five exotic vehicles previously snatched at gun point.”
The police spokesperson said the command has launched a manhunt for the fleeing hoodlums.
