Sky Sports suspends Carragher over spitting incident

British broadcasting giants, Sky, have suspended their football analyst and commentator, Jamie Carragher until the end of the season.

The suspension comes on the heels of a well-publicised video which showed the pundit lean out of his car window to spit at the car of a fan who was taunting him while driving home after Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday. Unfortunately for Carragher, his saliva shot hit the man’s 14 years old daughter in the passenger’s side.

The 40-year old who played for only Liverpool during his illustrious playing career had taken responsibility for his “unacceptable behaviour” and duly apologised after the incident. However, Sky, who hold a large chunk of EPL broadcasting rights, released a statement on Wednesday confirming his suspension.

“Following an internal review, Sky has suspended Jamie Carragher for the remainder of the football season,” started the statement.

But in a show of support, Sky also stated that they will “ensure he gets the help he needs to guarantee something like this never happens again.”

The former Liverpool defender has been with Sky as a pundit since his retirement from football in 2013 and has received rave reviews for his punditry skills.
