Sokoto Tsangaya students regain freedom after 13 days in captivity

Fifteen abducted Tsangaya students at Gidan Bakuso in Gada LGA of Sokoto state have regained their freedom.

The students were kidnapped on March 9 by bandits who attacked their school.

Liman Abubakar, the proprietor of the school, had narrated how bandits invaded the town, shot one person, and abducted a woman before attacking the school.

The abducted students were reportedly rescued by troops of the Nigerian army.

Ahmed Rufai, Sokoto police spokesperson, confirmed to TheCable that the abducted students were rescued during military operations.

On Friday, the abducted students visited Ahmad Aliyu, governor of Sokoto, at the government house.

TheCable could not independently verify whether ransom was paid or not, as the family of the abducted students had previously said bandits demanded N20 million as ransom.
