Sola Allyson
Sola Allyson, the Nigerian gospel singer, has fired back at an X user who accused her of not mentioning Jesus’ name in her album.
The controversy began after Panam Percy Paul, another gospel artiste, revealed in a viral video that he turned down a £24 million offer in 1995 to remove “Jesus” from his songs.
The critic, identified as Folahanayo1, quoted the video and claimed that Allyson released an “entire album without mentioning Jesus”.
Sola Allyson @thesolaallyson can not relate. A whole Albumn and not a single mention of Jesus. https://t.co/3ahAkDPg6F

Here is your 2019 album, IRI. 8 tracks and a runtime of 48 minutes. Throughout the entire album, the name ‘Jesus’ is not mentioned once. (correct me if I’m mistaken). Not even in Track 8 where you talked about who you “Gbekele”.
The personal attack is really below you, though. https://t.co/0mrXrqHgfn pic.twitter.com/3oOxKB1Ue2Advertisement— Joy (@Folahanayo1) March 28, 2025

In her response, Allyson questioned the motive of the critic while describing people as “callous and unkind”.
The gospel artiste emphasized that her convictions differ from those of her critics and that she wouldn’t want to be identified with them.
She also characterised the criticism as “bullying” and added that the Jesus she knows would never engage in such behaviour.
“Why are you people this callous and unkind? If this is what you are with your own Jesus, I don’t want to be identified with you lots! Can you see why really true souls who have found themselves distant themselves from you?” she wrote.

“Or is it that you are desperately looking for an addition of light-souls in your dark space and you must bully them into joining you??? Or you have low self esteem and you don’t feel enough without me? Because, kò yé mi.
“Or the Jesus presented to you is that who has low self esteem and looks for validation. Can’t you see that you have failed already? All these years? Why must I be like your fathers and mothers before you see what I am?

“Did I ask to be a part of you? Am I not walking my own journey and getting ahead in it? I don’t want to be a part of dark souls who outwardly present “Jesus”! This act says dark and callous! This is bullying! The Jesus I know would never do this!
“Anyone who does anything like this only calls The Name and not of The Name! I don’t want to be a part of you bullies and manipulators! Leave me to be and face your fellow vain, shallow and liar souls!”
