A soldier lost his life at Ungwan Keke, a village in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state, during an exchange of gunfire between suspected Boko Haram insurgents and security operatives on Sunday.
A witness told Channels Television that the security personnel stormed the village around 1 am and headed straight to the residence of the insurgents, where there was a gun battle.
The witness added that the suspects fled after several hours of engaging the security men but that some of their wives were arrested.
Confirming the incident, Suleiman Mohammed, head of the community, said before the operation, the joint security team, comprising soldiers and the state security service (SSS), ordered residents out of their houses to avoid collateral damages.

As at the time of filing this report, efforts of Channels to confirm the development from Abdul Usman, deputy director, army public relation, division one, Kaduna, did not yield results.
