Chukwuma Soludo, governor of Anambra, has sworn in the chairperson and members of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Paul Nwosu, information commissioner in Anambra, said the commission is responsible for overseeing the conduct of “peaceful and transparent” LGA polls in the state.

The chairman of the commission is Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe, while the members are Bernadine Obande, Osita Cyril Igbokwe, Chinedu Anthony Nnalue, Helen Ifeyinwa Umeh, and John Emeka Okeke.

While inaugurating the commission, Soludo said the 1999 Constitution and the Anambra state electoral law mandated ANSIEC to conduct the LGA election “transparently and independently”.
