Chad have named former Cameroon captain Rigobert Song as their new national team coach.
The 39-year-old was appointed on Monday to succeed Frenchman Emmanuel Tregoat, whose contract expired on September 30.
And the former Liverpool and West Ham defender is aware of the task before him.
“It’s not going to be an easy task to qualify for the 2017 Nations Cup but we are prepared to give our best,” he said.

Chad are in the same group with Nigeria, Egypt, and Tanzania in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Song’s first task, though, is a 2018 World Cup first leg qualifier against Egypt on November 14.
During his playing career, Song won 137 caps for the Indomitable Lions, and also became the first African to play at four World Cups – 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2010.

Song has won two Africa Cup of Nations titles with Cameroun in 2000 and 2002 while appearing in eight editions of the tournament between 1996 and 2010.
He is famous for being sent off in successive FIFA World Cup tournaments – in 1994 and 1998.
Song played for several clubs including FC Metz, Liverpool, West Ham United, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor.
