The Nigerian Southern Senators Forum has mourned the death of Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of the former late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
She died on Monday at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, after a brief illness.
The maitrach was 102 years old.
Dada had children who became president, two-term governor, vice-president, minister, major general, and a colonel, among others.

In a statement on Monday, Adetokunbo Abiru, chair of the forum, described the late maitrach as a “pillar of strength”.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the beloved mother of our colleague Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum,” he said.
“Hajia Dada Musa Yar’Adua was not only a pillar of strength to the Yar’Adua family but also the revered matriarch of one of Nigeria’s most distinguished families.

“Her departure marks the end of an era and leaves a void that will be profoundly felt by all who knew her.
“As the mother of the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum and of our beloved former President, His Excellency Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, she was a source of inspiration, nurturing a legacy of service and leadership that has greatly impacted our nation.
“Her grace, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to her family and community will forever be remembered.”
