DISCLAIMER: Beware of TheCable imitations

The management of Cable Newspaper Limited wishes to alert readers to the existence of websites apparently passing off as TheCable.

Although we do not dispute the right of any individual or organisation to operate under similar names since no law appears to have been broken, we are worried that many readers have been sharing and re-sharing some stories under the impression that they were published by TheCable.

The imitation sites, adopting the name “Cable” in various forms and the tag line “Nigerian online newspaper”, are easily mistaken for “TheCable” and “Nigeria’s independent online newspaper” by unsuspecting readers.

Our web address remains www.thecable.ng.

We would ordinarily not have issued this disclaimer but as the election season draws near, we are already noticing manipulative slants to stories and outright fabrications which may impugn on the integrity of TheCable in the eyes of those who are not aware the reports are not from us.

We, once again, restate our commitment to professionalism in our practice of journalism.

Thank you.
