‘Stab in heart of the state’ — Kogi mourns as gunmen kill DSS operative

Ade Daniel, an officer of the Department of State Services (DSS), has been murdered by gunmen in Imo state.

He was said to have been killed on September 28.

Kingsley Fanwo, Kogi commissioner for information and communications, at the burial on Monday, described Daniel’s death as “a stab in the heart of the state”.

Fanwo, who represented Yahaya Bello, the state governor, at the burial ceremony, said the deceased was a dedicated personnel who contributed to ensuring peace and security in the country.

Daniel, said to hail from Mopamuro LGA of Kogi, was buried at Orokere Amuro area of the state.

“This is one death too many and his death is a price for the unity of our nation. Our nation cannot afford to continue to bury young people who should be at the heart of our drive for nation building,” Fanwo said while speaking with journalists.

“Mr Daniel was a committed and dedicated operative in the DSS who contributed immensely to the security of the nation, despite his young age and short stint in the service.

“We mourn a gallant officer who was killed by cowards threatening the peace of our nation.

“Our thoughts are with his wife, son, father, siblings, the people of Orokere Amuro and Mopamuro as a whole. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
