As the 2109 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in Egypt on Friday, Star Lager beer is set to also thrill football fans with what officials of the Nigerian Breweries Plc call unforgettable moments.
At an event witnessed by top media executives and Nigeria’s ex-internationals Mutiu Adepoju, Victor Ikpeba, Efe Ambrose and Juwon Oshaniwa in Lekki, Lagos on Sunday, the brand unfolded plans to engage consumers and create memorable experiences for the fans across the country during the month-long AFCON.
Star Lager beer is an official sponsor of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as well as the official beer of the Super Eagles who are among the prime contenders for the 2019 African football title.
According to the officials, 17 Star Fan Parks to be activated on match days will be staged in eight cities across Nigeria where fans will in a carnival-like environment enjoy the competition’s 52 matches which run from June 21 to July 19.

Sarah Agha, portfolio manager, national premium, Nigerian Breweries Plc, explained that the programme aimed at making Nigerians enjoy the best of African football in a relaxed atmosphere as the bi-annual tournament is about to set a record as the most attended event by African players plying their trade in Europe.
“Nigerians are passionate about the Super Eagles and we hope to leverage on this,” Agha said.
“With the seasons across the globe in recess, the Africa Cup of Nations provides an exciting atmosphere for fans to see most of the African stars that thrill global audiences in the various leagues in Africa and Europe. Visitors to the designated parks would be entertained by foremost D-Jays and seasoned Nigerian artistes,” she also said.

Interestingly, the Super Eagles’ brand has risen and their fans’ base restored in tune with the passion attached to the European leagues by the fans since Star Lager became official sponsor of the senior national team.
