Ariadna Arevalo, representative of Colombia at the 64th edition of Miss Universe pageant, was mistakenly crowned the winner of the competition instead of Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of Philippines.
Steve Harvey, American comedian and veteran actor, who anchored the programme, which held in the US city of Las Vegas, apologised after realising his error and the crown was withdrawn from Arevalo and handed over to the real winner.
The development created a slight disruption, as the audience watched in amazement.
