Wives of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have described the stoning of President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign convoy in some northern states as a barbaric act that should be condemned by everyone.
The governors wives, whoe were speaking ina communique released at the end of a meeting with women politicians and other women from non-governmental organisations and faith-based groups, said that such attacks were infringing on the rights of every individual to campaign for whoever was the candidate of their choice.
“We condemn, in totality, the act of stoning the convoy of Mr. President during his campaign in some northern states,” they said.
“Such barbaric acts should be condemned by well-meaning Nigerians. They should be allowed to campaign freely and tell the people what they have for them in a peaceful manner. Nigerians need peace because we are one Nigeria; we desire to live in peace.”

The women implored security agencies to ensure that voters are not intimidated, while urging eligible voters should come out en masse to cast their votes during elections.
“We commend Nigerian women for their support and sacrifice towards the attainment of a free and fair elections,” they added.
“We enjoin women to vote for the Goodluck/Sambo ticket with a reminder that no administration has done so much for them than the current one.

“Women should come out en masse and vote for them ( Goodluck\Sambo) so that they can do more. Men in leadership positions should also encourage and support their wives to go out and mobilise at all levels to ensure people vote for Goodluck/Sambo and other PDP candidates come February 14th.”
