Some Nigerians on Twitter have called for peace following the outbreak of violence in Oyo state.
On Friday, violence erupted at Shasha market in Ibadan, Oyo capital, after hoodlums attacked business establishments owned by Hausa traders.
The clash was said to have led to the destruction and looting of more than 40 shops.
Seyi Makinde, governor Oyo, shut down the market and imposed a curfew.

“His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde has directed the immediate closure of Shasha market indefinitely following reports of a breach of peace in the area,” Taiwo Adisa, Makinde’s spokesman, said in a statement on Saturday.
“The governor has also approved the imposition of curfew on Shasha. It will run from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
“Residents of the affected area are enjoined to go about their legitimate businesses within the hours stipulated by the law.

“Anyone caught disrupting the peace of the community will be made to face the wrath of the law.”
Despite the curfew, there were reports of clashes in the Oyo capital.

Now that the #EndSARS protest has ended, with the eventual release of the previously arrested protesters, can we now turn our attention to the crisis in Oyo State?
Can we all call for the #StopkillingNortherners everywhere in Nigeria?
The North has endured bloodshed since 1999.

No region is as tolerant as the North. You see a Yoruba man living as a King in Zaria. You see Yorubas living comfortably in every part of the North while the crimes of a few herdsmen affects every Northerner living in the southwest.

Dear Arewa,
There have been so many provocations lately, but the patience we have shown is great. Please, do not take laws into your hands. We have spoken to people in power & we have charged them to ensure justice. #stopkillingnortherners

Local and International media are only waiting for reprisal attacks in the north to jump out. We condemn the barbaric actions of Oyo State. tomatoes, cows and the peaceful Fulani men do not deserve this kind of hate and violence. #StopkillingNortherners pic.twitter.com/3RiqxQMa9t

The Southerners should understand that if we decide to do the same thing to their people here, none of them will survive. We are peace loving people but enough is enough! #StopKillingNortherners

The so called Arewa Elders are not saying anything about the killing and destruction of innocent people's properties in Ibadan.
Is Nigeria truly one as it is said??? 😩 #StopKillingNortherners— Abdlwahab—Nasir (@TheMrnass) February 14, 2021
I fear for when northerners in the north will decide to retaliate the killings of their kinsmen in the south by paying back the same to the southerners in their land. It will be a truly sad day if that happens. The loss of life and wealth will be massive. #stopkillingnortherners

We're supposed to fight as a nation against bad governance and corruption, not this.
Let this not tire our nation. Let's compromise with compassion, love, and peace will reign.A great nation it's what we hope for. ✊#StopKillingNortherners pic.twitter.com/RaSGgTSWpj

The Hausa man is my brother, so is the Igbo man and The Yoruba man. We are all one. The Government and the Government alone is responsible for any insecurity in Nigeria and it is their duty to protect all Nigerians. I plead for peace.
We will come back to my matter later. ✊🏿— Mr Macaroni (@mrmacaronii) February 13, 2021
