Students killed as truck rams into buildings in Ondo

Many persons, including students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Ondo state, were killed in an accident on Saturday evening.

The incident happened after a truck lost control close to the university gate, around 6pm.

TheCable learnt that the truck was coming from Ikare Akoko area of Ondo state but losing control, crashing into buildings like business centres, shops and roadside-outlets.

After the accident, sympathisers engaged in rescue operation, bringing out at least eight bodies, according to witnesses.

As at the time of filing this report, the number of persons who lost their lives had not been ascertained.

But those who sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals in the town.

Five persons had earlier sustained injuries during a gas explosion at Akungba Akoko.

The incident occurred few minutes before the truck accident.
