Students of Rochas Foundation stranded over EFCC raid

About 1,500 students of the Rochas Foundation, Owerri, Imo state, were stranded on Tuesday as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided the school.

The students, who are being catered for free of charge, were harassed as they tried gaining entry into the school.

A witness said the EFCC officials assisted by state officials forcefully gained entry into the premises and harrassed those on ground.

“Several students sustained varied degrees of injuries and are now currently receiving treatment, with a female student on her monthly period reportedly kicked in the stomach” one of the witnesses said.

The situation quickly escalated as staff of the foundation who reportedly attempted to help a student were also said to have been beaten.

The Rochas Foundation since inception in 1998 has graduated about 3,000 students.
