At least N100 million will be raised in scholarships for the 81 students who advanced to the second stage of the Brightest National Agric Science Quiz Contest, a competition to promote the study of agricultural science with technology across high schools.
The contest, organised by JustMedia Production, an ideation and content production firm, is billed to start airing across top TV stations in Nigeria and Africa from April 6.
The competition is sponsored by OCP Africa, BlackCountry Farms and Providus Bank.
The 81 students who qualified for the second stage were selected from a pool of over 16,039 students from 2,559 schools across Nigeria who sat for the national qualifying exams.

The selected students proceeded to the second stage, which had them converge in Lagos to battle it out in the IT-driven TV quiz show to determine the winners for the season.
In a statement, JustMedia Production said the competition was conceived because “there is the need for Africa to start a deliberate agricultural revolution, which will invariably increase food production, processing and preservation using technology”.
“Agriculture is the foundation for civilisation and a stable economy. Over the years, Industrial agricultural development in Africa has had very low offtake,” the organisers said.

“For this to change positively, there is the need for Africa to start a deliberate agricultural revolution, which will invariably increase food production, processing and preservation using technology. This evolution brought about the Brightest Agriculture Science Competition designed for high school students in Nigeria.”
The maiden edition of Brightest National Agric. Science Quiz contest show will be anchored by Kiki Omeilli and transmitted from April 6 on DSTV Africa Magic Family, AIT Network, TVC Lagos and across the Brightest National Agric. Science Quiz Contest digital platforms.
