Students watch in shock as two teachers fight at Delta school

Viral footage has shown two teachers at what is reported to be a Delta school engaging in a physical fight.

The footage, initially shared by a Facebook user on Wednesday, shows two male teachers exchanging blows inside a staff room.

The school involved, the video’s source revealed, is Ibru College in Agbarha-Otor, Delta state.

In the video, some staff members are seen making panicky phone calls while students watch from behind metal burglar bars.

Other colleagues of the teachers involved are heard screaming in an apparent attempt to stop the brawl.

The confrontation, it is reported, took place on March 6, 2025.

The incident has since generated widespread criticism on social media.

In it, many have condemned what they describe as unprofessional and an inappropriate example for students.

The cause of the dispute remains unclear.

As of this reporting, neither Ibru College nor the state minister of education has commented on the altercation.

In recent years, there have been similar cases of physical altercations or assaults involving teachers.

In January 2025, a video surfaced showing a teacher at Christ Mitots School in Ikorodu, Lagos, violently assaulting a three-year-old.

The incident sparked widespread outrage, leading to the teacher’s arrest and subsequent arraignment.

In October 2024, a parent was caught on video assaulting a teacher at Rosebud School in Idimu, Lagos.

The altercation occurred in front of students and staff, drawing significant public condemnation.

A pupil at Simple Faith Schools in Agbara, Lagos, died in May 2022 after being whipped by his angry mathematics teacher.

In October 2024, a young student died after an Ogun state teacher whipped him to placate an offended principal.
