The Adamawa government says it has procured 31 mass transit buses to cushion the effect of petrol subsidy removal on workers.
Neido Kufulto, Adamawa commissioner for information and strategy, announced the development on Monday during a chat with reporters.
Kufulto said the procurement of the buses is part of efforts by the administration of Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, to ease the economic hardship on the people.
The commissioner said the vehicles were procured from Innoson Nigeria Ltd, an indigenous auto manufacturing company, as part of government’s resolve to promote patronage of made-in-Nigeria products.

“We are fully determined and committed to alleviating the sufferings occasioned by the removal of petroleum subsidy,” NAN quoted Kufulto as saying.
“We had earlier purchased 10 units of the vehicle, which are already shuttling within the metropolis at affordable transport charges.”
She further said the administration is committed to reinvigorating the transport sector in the state.

President Bola Tinubu declared an end to the petrol subsidy regime during his inaugural address on May 29.
The proclamation immediately led to a spike in the pump price of petrol, soaring inflation and economic hardship.
Federal and state governments have been rolling out palliatives to cushion the impact of the subsidy removal on the masses.
