Jonathan Gaza, member representing Keffi/Karu/Kokona federal constituency of Nasarawa state, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker’s defection brings to eight the number of lawmakers that have joined the APC from the PDP since last week Tuesday.
Gbefwi’s defection was announced by Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, at plenary session on Wednesday.
Before his defection letter was read by the speaker, Ado Doguwa, majority leader of the house, asked the house to admit into the chamber Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa state; Abdullhai Adamu, senator representing Nasarawa-west, and Umaru Al–Makura, senator representing Nasarawa south and other party chieftains to witness the defection.

Adamu and Al–Makura are both former governors of Nasarawa state.
Gbefwi cited crisis and division in the PDP as his reason for defection.
The APC lawmakers on the floor of the house chanted “APC” repeatedly after Gbajabiamila read Gbefwi’s letter.

His defection comes about 24 hours after four lawmakers from Zamfara — Bello Shinkafi, Ahmed Bakura, Ahmed Bungudu and Suleiman Gummi — joined the APC from the PDP.
Last week Tuesday, the main opposition party also lost two of its members to the ruling party: Idagbo Ochiglegoor and Michael Etaba, both from Cross River.
A day later, Umar Dangaladima, a PDP lawmaker from Zamfara, also joined the APC.
