The Super Eagles are fourth in Group C with seven points from six matches
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been ranked as the 43rd-best national team in the latest FIFA rankings.
According to the rankings released on Thursday, the Super Eagles moved up one place from the 44th position.
The senior national team won twice and drew two other matches in the period under review, earning Eric Chelle’s side enough points to move up.
Nigeria however dropped one spot among the continent’s powerhouses, vacating the fifth position for sixth.

The AFCON 2023 finalists were displaced by Ivory Coast, who rose five places to become the 41st-best nation globally. ‘
Nigeria’s performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifying series has so far been subpar. The Eagles are in fourth place with seven points from six matches, the latest being a disappointing 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe.
Unbeaten Ivory Coast are top of Group F with 14 points and are yet to concede a goal.

Morocco remains the highest-ranked nation in Africa while Senegal, Egypt, Algeria and Ivory Coast occupy the remaining top five positions.
Argentina retained its position as the first-ranked nation globally while Spain moved into second ahead of France who dropped to third.
Myanmar are the highest climbers in the latest rankings, moving up seven places to 162nd, while Guinea-Bissau dropped eight places- the highest- to 128th on the back of four straight losses.
The next FIFA world rankings will be released on July 10.
