Super Eagles slip five places in latest FIFA ranking

The Super Eagles of Nigeria dropped five places to 42nd position in the latest ranking released on Thursday by the world soccer governing body, FIFA.

After a poor start to Africa Cup of Nations 2015 qualifiers, Nigeria expectedly dropped to ninth position in Africa.

Algeria continue to occupy top spot on the continent and even climbed five places in the world, where they are now ranked 15th.

South Africa climbed 10 places following Bafana Bafana’s superb form and position at the top of AFCON qualifying Group A.

They sit 57th in the world and 12th in Africa.

Germany maintained number one spot, with Argentina in second, followed closely by Colombia.

The Netherlands dropped one place to sit below fourth-placed Belgium.
