SuperZee: My parents made my dream career happen

Asisat Oshoala, Super Falcons superstar, was one of the speakers at the FIFA second women’s football and leadership conference in Zurich on Monday – where she spoke about her inspiration in life.

“I was lucky to have parents who supported my dream of playing football – not everyone is that fortunate,” she said.

“Please do whatever you can do to help move women’s football forward. Please do it. I’m not going to wait any longer.”

Oshoala was the major driving force in recent times in Nigeria women football, leading the Falcons to win the African Championship in 2014.

She was named best player and with seven goals was also the top goal scorer at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

She was also named best player and second top scorer with the Super Falcons team who won the 2014 Africa Women’s Championship.

She also won the BBC Women’s footballer of the year 2015.

The conference, entitled “Equality through Reform”, focused on three areas: women’s football development, women in leadership, and reform.

Some of the major players in International Sports at the event are: FIFA President Gianni Infantino, tennis legend and founder of the Women’s Sports Foundation Billie Jean King, former USA national team player Abby Wambach, Olympic champion, and lead adviser to the EU Women Athletes Business Network Donna de Varona.
