The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Obadiah Mailafia, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), after interrogating him a third time.
In August, the secret police invited him for questioning after he claimed repentant insurgents told him that a governor from the north was their commander.
Mailafia made the claim while speaking during a programme on Nigeria Info 95.1FM, Abuja.
While Mailafia was being interrogated by the DSS on Monday in Jos, Plateau state, his supporters stationed themselves outside the office of the secret police chanting solidarity songs.

The former CBN deputy governor honoured the DSS invitation in the company of Margaret, his wife, and Yakubu Bawa, his counsel.
Addressing his supporters after he was grilled for about four hours, Mailafia said he hoped he would not be invited again by the secret police.
According to him, he only wants the killings in the southern part of Kaduna to stop.

“I hope this will be the last time I will be invited to the DSS office,” The PUNCH quoted the former CBN deputy governor as saying.
“All that I am saying is that the killings must stop.”
