Charles Soludo, governor of Anambra, says security operatives have arrested the suspected mastermind behind the killing of US staff in Ogbaru LGA of the state.
TheCable had reported that gunmen attacked a convoy conveying staff of the US consulate, killing four in the process.
Ikenga Tochukwu, police spokesperson in Anambra, said the “hoodlums murdered two of the police mobile force operatives, and two staff of the consulate”.
In an interview with Channels TV on Friday, Soludo said some of the perpetrators of the act have been killed.

“Yes, I can tell you with clarity that investigation is ongoing. But like you said, we have zero tolerance for this kind of criminality,” he said.
“Some of the commanders, those involved in that, I think, a few of them have been killed within days. Within two days after that incident, some of them were killed.
“And as we speak now, yesterday, the actual leader… the mastermind of the particular gang has been arrested and he’s here with us.

“And it doesn’t really matter whether it is the life of an American citizen. The life of an American citizen is not superior to any other. Every human being has a right to life.
“Now that we’ve arrested the mastermind, the leader of the gang, the investigation is ongoing. And as day follows the night, we’ll get to the bottom of it.”
President Muhammadu Buhari, in a condolence message, had said he was saddened by the incident, adding that the perpetrators of the attack will be brought to justice.
