‘Swiss Swiss victory’ — Perfect 10 titles for Federer on home soil

It was ‘Swiss Swiss victory’ for Roger Federer, the Swiss tennis master, who won his 10th home title at the Swiss Indoors Open tournament final on Sunday.

Federer easily defeated Alex de Minaur, Australian youngster 6-2 6-2 to in front of home fans.

The win brought 38-year old Federer a third straight title, and he has now won five of the last six finals.

It was also a record 24th consecutive win and 15th final appearance at St. Jakoshalle in Basel.

The win was also top-seeded Federer’s fourth title of the year, his 103rd career title and a second tournament where he has won 10 or more titles.

Ranked third in the world, Roger Federer, who served as the tournament’s ball boy in 1993, broke 21-year old Minuar in the fourth game to take the first set 6-2 in 20 minutes.

He would break de Minaur in the first game of the second set to breeze through the 28th-ranked player in the world.

Federer, with 20 Grand Slam singles titles, has won titles in Halle, Miami and Dubai this year before this latest triumph.
