Timipre Sylva, a former governor of Bayelsa, has called for calm following an outbreak of violence in Okpoama, Brass local government council area of the state.
On Sunday, a youth leader reportedly died and scores were injured over an election of youth executives in the community.
In a statement, Doifie Buokoribo, spokesman of Sylva, quoted the former governor as describing the incident as”unwarranted, unfortunate and strange”,
While wondering why some youths would want to spill blood, the former governor condoled with the family of deceased.

Sylva called on the leadership of the community to work with security agencies to ensure that all those involved “in this violence are brought to book without delay”.
The former governor reiterated the need for peace in the community.
