Sylvester Egbas, lawyer and writer, has passed on at the age of 71.
According to a statement by the family, the late Egbas, who hails from Obubra local government area of Cross River state, died in his sleep.
He was a key player in the politics of his day. Egbas was instrumental in the creation of Cross River state and was an ally of Ex-Senate President Joseph Wayas and Obafemi Awolowo, then premier of the western region.
The late Egbas contributed articles in some Nigerian dailies and worked towards strengthening the then Action Congress (AC) in his Ojo local government base in Lagos state.

The late Egbas will be buried in his hometown of Ofodua, in Obubra local government area of Cross River on November 30, 2019.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine, six children, among whom is Jude, senior editor at Pulse Nigeria, and a host of grandchildren.
