Taiwo Olowu to battle Ghana’s Michael Ansah for West Africa boxing title

Taiwo Olowu of Nigeria will face off against Ghana’s Michael Ansah for the West African Boxing Union (WABU) super welterweight title.

The duo will slug it out for the vacant regional belt at the GOtv Boxing Night 30 on December 26 at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

Olowu, popularly called Gentle Boy, has an impressive career run of 15 wins and one defeat from his 16 professional fights. Ansah, however, is more experienced and has a mixed bag of results. He has 23 wins, 12 defeats, and three draws from 38 professional fights.

In other title fights for the night, Sifon “Best” Iwatt will contend with Saheed Azeez for the national super flyweight belt, while Bolatito “Black Tito” Oluwole, national female cruiserweight champion, will defend her crown against Blessing Abisoye.

In the super welterweight category, Abdulafeez “Big Name” Osoba will aim to do a double over Christopher Ucheji. Osoba had earlier defeated his opponent in May.

Arabambi Ojo and Ibrahim “Golden Boy” Opeyemi will face off in a national bantamweight challenge bout, while Ayanfe Adeoye will face Ahmed Ganiyu in the national light welterweight category.

Teni, 9ice and Nasboi are billed to perform at the event, which will be aired live on SuperSport Variety 4 (DStv ch 209) and SuperSport Select 2 (GOtv ch 64 Channel).
