Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house of representatives, has congratulated Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna state, for recently winning the ‘Governor of the Year’ award.
Sani received the recognition at the 5th edition of the 2024 African Illustrious Son Award in Lagos, where 37 persons received various awards.
According to a statement on Tuesday by Musa Abdullahi Krishi, spokesperson to the speaker, Abbas said the award was an attestation to the quality leadership of Sani.
Abbas said the governor is a celebrated pro-democracy activist and has been delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Kaduna.

The speaker said with Sani’s show of governance capacity, more awards would be coming his way.
In 2023, Sani was awarded the 2023 NITMA-Digital Governor of the Year award by the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS).
The annual award recognises and celebrates “exceptional individuals, state governments, and institutions contributing to the advancement of information technology in Nigeria and beyond”.

The organisation said Sani emerged winner after an online voting process.
NCS praised the Sani-led Kaduna state government “for its unwavering dedication and efforts in bolstering the application of technology in the administration of the state, especially in the areas of agriculture, revenue collection, health and education”.
