Tambuwal appoints businessman Magori as new chief of staff

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto, has approved the appointment of Mukhtar Umar Magori, a businessman, as his new chief of staff.

Imam Imam, the governor’s spokesman, said Magori was into private business until his appointment.

He said Magori attended Nagarta college, Sokoto for his secondary education and obtained his first degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He also said the new chief of staff has an MSc in maritime studies from the University of Wales in Cardiff, United Kingdom.

In another development, Tambuwal has approved the restructuring of the Sokoto State Media Corporation (SSMC).

Imam said Abubakar Shekara and Labaran Lumo Dundaye had been appointed managing director and deputy managing director of SSMC, respectively.

He said Usman Buhari Sani, Alhaji Lawal Sadiq and Aliyu Dogon Daji had been appointed director, Rima radio; director, Rima television; and director, state FM, respectively.

The governor’s spokesman also said Abubakar Junaidu was appointed director administration, while Halima S. Tudu was appointed a director-general in the state civil service.

“All other directors in the media corporation retain their current positions and schedule,” Imam’s statement read.

“The Governor tasked the new team to introduce innovative strategies that will re-position the state media outfits for optimum results.

“He also urged the new team to key into government’s overall objective of providing quality service that will lead to the upliftment of the standard of living of the people of Sokoto state.”
