Tambuwal moves to revive agriculture in Sokoto

Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state, says his government will prioritise mechanised agriculture in order to revive the sector and make it meet the current and growing demands of the people of the state.

Speaking on Saturday when he received the report of a committee set up to revive agriculture in the state, Tambuwal said his administration was working towards framing a policy that will capture the needs of small and large scale farmers.

He said the policy will provide initial incentives to top political office holders and individual businessmen to own and operate large scale farms.

He said it had become imperative for his government to toe that line in order to boost revenue and food security.
