Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state who was mandated to resolve the crisis in the house of representatives, says normalcy would soon be restored to the green chamber.
Addressing reporters after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, Tambuwal said he met with the president to discuss the security challenges in the country.
“We have commenced meetings and even today, we are going to have yet another meeting,” he said.
“I believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel; peace and normalcy will be restored to the chambers of the national assembly. I assure you that we will continue to support Mr. President for us to deliver on our promises to the Nigerian people.”

Tambuwal refused to comment on the insistence of the group of Femi Gbajabiamila on occupying the remaining principal positions in the house of reps, as against the Yakubu Dogara faction, which is also bent on occupying the same positions.
When asked if his own emergence as speaker set the precedent for current events at the assembly, he said: “I should leave that to you to make your own judgment but I believe that the lawmakers are all matured people and they should know what is the best for the country and the party.”
Back then, Tambuwal rode on support the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) lawmakers to emerge speaker of the 7th assembly, against the the wish of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he belonged to at the time, for Mulikat Akande Adeola to get the post.
