Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state, has said his government will revoke the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of any petrol station that is found to be hoarding fuel.
The governor said the fuel scarcity bedeviling Sokoto was caused by hoarders whose goal is to create artificial scarcity and sell above the official rate.
He said the state government, in cooperation with the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), will set up a joint task force to monitor fuel stations to determine whether or not they are complying with laid down rules and regulations guiding their operations.
Tambuwal issued the warning on Saturday while inspecting fuel sale at some filling stations in Sokoto.

He said the Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) had not reduced its supply of petroleum products to filling stations and noted that his government will not fold its arms and watch marketers hold the people to ransom.
“The committee will go round, and any filling station found hoarding fuel will face the full wrath of the law,” the governor said.
Sokoto residents had been affected by a lingering fuel scarcity for over two weeks.
