Angela Daniel, a 300 level student of the school of arts and social sciences at the College of Education, Minna, Niger state, has been crushed to death by an oil tanker.
Daniel, who rode on a motorcycle after lectures on Monday, was in the company of a colleague when the incident happened.
The students were on their way home at the time of the accident. However, while Daniel lost her life, the other student narrowly escaped with injuries.
The incident triggered demonstration by students of the college who blocked the Minna/Suleja dual carriageway for over four hours before the intervention of the police.

Ahmad Tafyan, president of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the College of Education, has called on the state government to compensate the family of Daniel.
He made the call on Wednesday during an interview with NAN in Minna.
“We appeal to Niger state government to compensate the family of our colleague, who was killed on Monday by an oil tanker.

“We will not dictate how the family should be compensated but we will appreciate whatever government deems fit.”
Tafyan said the deceased had not been buried because the police was investigating the issue to ascertain the claim of brake failure by the driver of the ill-fated truck.
He called on the authority of the college to immortalise the deceased, who hailed from Magama local government area of the state.
Meanwhile, Rasheed Faruk, provost of the college, told NAN that the institution would participate actively in the burial of the deceased.

Also speaking, Bala Elkana, police public relations officer (PPRO) in the state, said the police succeeded in arresting the driver of the tanker with the assistance of a motorist who was at the scene of accident.
“We arrested the driver and impounded the tanker. We have commenced investigation on the incident and the driver will be charged to court when we conclude investigation,” Elkana said.
