Less than one week after a fuel laden tanker was involved in an accident on Otedeola bridge in the Berger area of Lagos state, another tanker spilled its content at Moshalashi bus stop in Iyana Ipaja, a suburb in Lagos.
Witnesses said officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) moved in on time to prevent the 33,000-diesel carrier from going up in flames.
Fifty-four vehicles were burnt in the Berger incident while 10 people reportedly lost their lives.
Another tanker was brought to the scene while the content of the vehicle which broke down was transferred.

The road has now been re-opened.
On Monday, the Lagos state government asked all tanker drivers, lorry drivers and owners of articulated vehicles to please submit their vehicles for inspection.
Edgal Imohimi, the state commissioner of police, said Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of the state, had given the directive for security agencies to “intensify enforcement of relevant laws, especially the traffic laws in the state with a view to ensuring that the roads and highways were safe for commuters to ply without any danger”.
