TCN restores power supply after partial national grid collapse

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has restored power supply to the national grid after a system collapse.

On Wednesday, a partial system collapse led to power outage in some parts of the country.

The incident had affected franchise areas operated by the Eko, Ikeja and Kaduna electricity distribution companies (DisCos).

Ndidi Mbah, TCN spokesperson, told TheCable on Thursday that power supply was restored to the grid 45 minutes after the collapse.

“It was not a system collapse. It was partial as the whole of south/east was not affected,” Mbah said.

“System was full restored 45mins from time of collapse.”

Ikeja Electric had also confirmed that electricity supply has been restored to some of the transmission stations under its network.

“Please, note that gradual restoration to other areas is currently ongoing. Thank you for your understanding.”

Eko DisCo also said electricity supply has also been restored to its distribution lines and most of the affected areas have been restored on minimal load.
