Teslim Folarin, former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo, has mourned the passing of Ajiboye Omodewu, the state’s party chairman.
Omodewu died in the US where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
Folarin described the deceased as “diligent, dutiful, committed, and a loyal party leader”.
He added that under Omodewu, the APC achieved great successes in the last general election.

“I received, with rude shock, the sad news of the death of the state chairman of our great party, APC Oyo State, Omodewu,” he said.
“Omodewu passed away in the United States, where he was receiving treatment for an ailment.
“Until his last moments, he was a diligent, dutiful, committed, and loyal party leader, a wonderful family man, and a friend whose loyalty to party matters was unflagging.

“His ability to organise and restructure the party, even in the face of daunting challenges, was awesome.
“To his credit, the state APC was able to achieve the great successes recorded during the last general election.
“He was equally instrumental in the resilience demonstrated by the state APC during the last local government elections, where the Oyo APC presented candidates in all 33 local governments for the position of chairman and in the 351 wards as councillors.”
Folarin said the party would miss Omodewu’s leadership qualities and dedication.

He prayed God to give Omodewu’s immediate family, the Oyo APC chapter, and friends the fortitude to bear the loss.
