Thank Farm It’s Friday! Benue workers get Fridays off to farm

The Benue state executive council on Thursday declared Fridays in June 10 till July 2016, a work-free day to enable workers in the state work on their farms.

Samuel Ortom, governor of the state who chaired the 16th session of the meeting where the decision was taken, said with the biting economic situation and inability to pay workers regularly, workers need to farm to feed their families.

Odeh Ageh, state commissioner of information, on Thursday, said Mr. Ortom also announced that he would take a two-week vacation which was part of his annual leave from Monday, June 13th to work on his farm. Benson Abounu, the deputy governor, would act on his behalf during the period.

“The council also approved the interdiction of the special adviser on special duties, Architect Joseph Kyaagba, who is being investigated in connection with the murder of the senior special assistant on Special Security, the late Denen Igbana,” Ageh said.

“It directed the special adviser on Economic Matters, Dr. Bem Mellabu, to oversee the office of special duties in addition to his portfolio.”

Martha Igbana, wife of deceased aide was also appointed a special sssistant to the governor on community relations.
