I thank God for my goals but we need to start winning, says Ighalo

Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo says he hopes for a positive change in his club’s  fortunes.

Changchun Yatai currently sit bottom of the pile in the Chinese Super League (CSL).

Although Ighalo scored a brace on Saturday, his first goals since moving to the CSL, he was still on the losing side.

The former Watford FC player hopes things will get better in terms of results.

“I thank God for the goals but we need to win more. It’s not looking good for us because after five games, we got just one point,” Ighalo told TheCable.

“We played well and good in some of the games but we have been very unlucky.

“Like in today’s game, I thought we were going to win or even a draw because we played better but we lost.

Ighalo, who was replaced in the 73rd minute after twisting his ankle, hopes that the injury will not be serious.

A scan will be done on Sunday to determine the state of his swollen ankle.

“Yes, I got a knock then twisted my ankle. It’s a little bit swollen. I am getting a scan done on it tomorrow,” Ighalo said.

“I am hoping it’s not something serious so that I can be with the team for a better outing soon.”
