Raheem Olawuyi, winner of the Kwara house of representatives bye-election, says he was able to secure victory at the polls because the All Progressives Congress (APC) believe in him.
He said this on Sunday while speaking with reporters at Omu-Aran, Kwara state.
Olawuyi polled 21,236 votes to defeat Saheed Alatise of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who came second with 18,095 votes.
The election was conducted following the death of Funke Adedoyin, member representing the constituency.

Olawuyi, however, said his success at the polls is a sign of more victories to come for the ruling party in the state come in the 2019 general election.
“This is a happy moment for me because we have been doing this for a long time,” Olawuyi said.
“When your time has come, no one can stop you but at the same time, I give glory to God, because it is the best time Allah has created for me.

“My party believed in me to put me forward for the assignment and I thank God I have delivered.”
Olawuyi said the statement by Senate President Bukola Saraki that there was open intimidation and harassment of voters by security agencies during the election was laughable.
