Police arrest ‘members’ of proscribed group in Zamfara, recover ‘bloodstained knives’

The police command in Zamfara says it has arrested members of a proscribed group over alleged attempt to attack a Fulani settlement in the state.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ayuba Elkanah, commissioner of police in Zamfara, identified the three suspected members of the group as Zubairu Musa, Abdullahi Rabiu and Buhari Muazu.

“On 29th of November, 2021 the command received a distress call that a large number of an outlawed group known as ‘Yansakai’ carrying dangerous weapons invaded a fulani settlement called Bargaja in Gusau LGA with intent to attack and kill the inhabitants of the village,” the statement reads.

“Police tactical teams were proactively deployed to the village to repel the hoodlums from carrying out their nefarious activities against the community.
