Yeful, Anthony, Hussaini, Ogbonnaya… TheCable’s NPFL team of the week

As is the case every other week, the performances of some players in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) trump others.

Here are the players who made TheCable’s team of the week.

Jonah Usman – Kwara United

Against Enugu Rangers, Usman made six crucial saves to deny spare his team the blushes of defeat.

Reuben Ogbonnaya – Niger Tornadoes

In the game against Go Round, Ogbonnaya easily marked out the opposition. His quality on the ball was also evident throughout the game.

Cyril Oriaku – Kwara United

Oriaku proved a point against his former team, Rangers, with an assured performance. He completely dominated his territory.

Mohammed Hussaini – Katsina United

It takes character to have a wonderful performance against the rampaging duo of Obi Samson and Ndifreke Effiong. Hussaini came out good in the test.

Seun Olulayo – Sunshine Stars

He put up a decent shift in the win over Wikki Tourists. The former U23 star provided the assist for Franklin Sasere’s match winner.

Issa Magaji – Kwara United 

He was everywhere, running at opponents and helping Kwara United win the battles against Rangers’ players in the middle of the park.

Destiny Ashadi – Katsina United

He outplayed Abia Warriors’ midfielders and dictated the game for most parts.

Sunday Anthony – El-Kanemi Warriors

Every time he touched the ball, the fans cheered. Everyone expected him to always kickstart the attack and make something out of nothing, which he often did.

Ebenezer Odeyemi – Katsina United

After being down with an injury for two months, the stocky forward returned to the starting line up of Katsina United with a resounding performance. He was hard to contain up front.

Anthony Yeful – El-Kanemi Warriors

He worked hard to keep the ball up for his team and combined well with the other forwards. He capped his fine performance with a brace.

Segun Alebiosu – Niger Tornadoes

Alebiosu seems reborn since he left Kwara United for Niger Tornadoes. In an important game for the Ikon Allah Boys, he found the back of the net with a lob.
