Some voters in the ongoing governorship election in Edo state have protested the absence of result sheets at their polling unit.

In a viral video on social media, voters in ward 8, unit 1 of Orhionmwon LGA, were seen disrupting the voting process, demanding the result sheets before casting their ballots.

However, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the polling unit pacified the voters.

The INEC officials told the voters that the result sheets were being conveyed to the polling unit.

“We are and had started voting, but we discovered that there is no result sheet,” one of the voters in the video said.

“How can they expect us to be voting without a result sheet? Does it work that way?

“They want to colonise the process, and we will not accept it. We are not going to vote until they show us the result sheets.

“We will not vote. Call your superiors and tell them we are not going to vote until we see the result sheets.”

Seventeen candidates are battling for over 2.2 million votes across the 18 LGAs in Edo to elect a new governor for the state.
