Third Mainland Bridge fully reopens after weeks of repairs

The Lagos Third Mainland Bridge is now fully reopened for vehicular movement after weeks of rehabilitation work.

On Thursday, David Umahi, minister of works, directed Olukorede Kesha, the federal controller of works in Lagos, to open the bridge.

The rehabilitation works hindered full access to all the sections of the bridge.

Umahi said the federal government has commenced the second phase of rehabilitation work which involves the underwater damage to the bridge.

“Minister of Works, His Excellency, Senator David Nweze Umahi, in a phone call in the early hours of today, directed the controller of works, Lagos State, Engr Mrs O.I.Kesha to open the bridge to traffic in order to ease the stress which motorist have been subjected to, during the period of the first phase of rehabilitation works on the bridge,” a statement, published on the ministry’s website, reads.

Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos commissioner for transportation, also announced the opening of the bridge in a statement on X.

On Wednesday, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) warned motorists to maintain speed limits while driving on the bridge.
