This guy can dance, sing, play football and make you laugh

Akpororo

Akpororo is, undeniably, one of the fastest rising comedians in Nigeria now. His rare style of comedy – gospel – sets him apart from the more secular comedians.

He is the comedian with so much swag and a lot of “anointing” to entertain.

Warri boy

Born Jephta Bowoto, he was raised in the city of Warri, Delta State, but is originally from Ogun State. He is from a family of five and is the first son. He is a Sociology student at Lagos State University, Lagos.

Not unusually, his parents were initially not in support of his choice of comedy as a profession. With the success, they (parents) are now full behind.

He is a very active member of his Church choir and jokingly stated that poverty forced him to discover his talents. Akpororo is single.

Professional life

Akpororo started comedy in 2008 as winner of the Ay Open Mic Comedy contest.

He, however, gained prominence by 2010. He gets inspiration for jokes from the church and mad men (he says mad men are cured in his church).

His role models are Gordons, Gandoki and Bishop Matthew. He once said he focuses on gospel comedy because he is a Christian. He also jokes about music and things that happen around him.

He started by using other comedians’ jokes as most comedians do but has his own jokes now. He has not got into trouble or misunderstanding because of his jokes, he said in a media interview recently. Why? He said he teases and doesn’t insult in his jokes.

He has featured in a lot of comedy shows and hosts a concert- Ojo Mega Praise Jam in Okokomaiko, where resides. He has a Choir group, Ojo Mass Choir, and a dance group, which he directs.

Other skills

Akpororo is not just the comedian with too much swag and anointing, he has much more to give to his fans. He is a man of multiple skills.

He plays football, basketball and table tennis. He also sings, dances and swims. He may just launch into the music industry fully or become an athlete tomorrow.

Akpororo is definitely the man to watch out for.
